Dye Marking

Despite all activities to improve selectivity, it is sometimes not possible to detect the sought substance according to the required proof of accuracy, depending on the task in question. There can be several reasons for this:

  • The ambient matrix or individual substances involved can be excited with the same wavelength as the sought substance. A wide-band, intensive interference signal will superimpose the signal of the sought substance.
  • The substance to be detected either has no fluorescence effect or an insufficient fluorescence effect in the required concentration.
  • Disturbing environmental light superimposes the signal of the sought substance, but cannot be shielded for application reasons.

In these cases dyes are used in order to attain the specific delineation of the sought substance. The dyes concerned can be excited to fluorescence using microchip lasers very selectively and effectively. The required concentration usually lies between 1:10,000 and 1:2,500,000. The cost of dyes is thus correspondingly low. In order to mark the required portion of the substance to be detected in an appropriate manner, various standard dyes are available. In addition, SYSTEKTUM GmbH cooperates with competent partners who are able to develop and manufacture specific custom dyes.
